The Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (Nam-CSIRT) has appointed Cornelia Shipindo as its executive, effective 1 October.
Nam-CSIRT is housed at the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran) and coordinates the country’s response to cybersecurity incidents.
Shipindo has experience in cybersecurity, information and communication technology governance, risk management, digital transformation, regulatory compliance and project management.
In her new role, she will oversee Namibia’s national cybersecurity incident response.
She will also work to improve the country’s preparedness for cyberthreats and strengthen cooperation between government, businesses and other institutions.
Her responsibilities include coordinating responses to cyber incidents, promoting cybersecurity awareness and supporting national cybersecurity priorities.
“I am honoured to be appointed at a critical time in Namibia’s digital transformation journey. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and I look forward to working with government institutions, industry stakeholders, academia, and international partners to strengthen cyber resilience, enhance incident response capabilities, and promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness across the nation. Together, we can build a safer and more secure digital future for all Namibians,” Shipindo says.
Cran spokesperson Mufaro Nesongano says Shipindo’s appointment forms part of efforts to strengthen Namibia’s ability to respond to cyberthreats and protect its digital systems.
