Zambezi regional Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) officials say the region is prepared to ensure that the 52 173 eligible voters registered in the region can cast their votes smoothly.
Namibians will be voting for the presidential and national assembly elections on 27 November.
Speaking during a regional stakeholders’ engagement on Monday, returning officer Ben Lumponjani said they are currently conducting voter education across the region.
“Voters will learn how to mark, fold ballot papers and cast their votes on election day. We have also completed courtesy visits to all four traditional authorities and trained all eight returning officers,” he said.
Lumponjani added that there are about 227 polling stations and eight collation centres gazetted across the region.
“We will have around 987 polling officials and 16 reserve polling officials. The teams will be deployed to their respective polling stations from 25 November,” he said.
He further mentioned that the polling point for special voting for the entire region will be at Ngweze Community Hall on 13 November.
