The Zambezi police are seeking the public’s assistance to trace the mother of a baby who was dumped at the Katima Mulilo State Hospital on Sunday evening.
Regional police commander Andreas Shilelo on Wednesday confirmed that they are investigating a baby dumping case.
He added that the baby was found at the entrance to the hospital’s administration block by a staff member and a security guard who heard the baby crying.
“It’s a baby girl, and it’s suspected that she was born on the same day. She is in good health and is being kept at the neonatal ward for now,” he said.
Shilelo added that this is a sensitive issue and they would like to reunite the baby with the mother.
The public or family members who had a pregnant relative who appears to have given birth with no sign of a baby are urged to come forward.
