A woman (49) is appealing to the public for assistance after her son (13) suffered severe burns to his body in a house fire.
Sigrid Nekongo says her son, Vilio Nekongo, suffered burns after a torch battery he was charging using a solar-powered system exploded and set the room alight.
According to Nekongo, her son was injured while trying to save his schoolbooks from the burning room.
The boy was initially taken to Omuthiya Hospital before being transferred to Onandjokwe Hospital in the Oshikoto region. He was later referred to Ongwediva MediPark in the Oshana region, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
“When the doctors are feeding him, he is vomiting,” Nekongo says.
Nekongo is now appealing to members of the public for financial assistance to help cover her son’s medical expenses, after her medical aid was overdrawn.
