Walvis Bay water supply restored

Regular water supply to Walvis Bay has been restored after damage to a power line reduced supply on Friday.

A power line at Rooibank was damaged, affecting water supply at Rooibank in the Kuiseb area.

“NamWater wishes to update the public that power was restored late [on Friday] following the power interruption affecting water supply operations in the Rooibank area,” NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata said on Saturday.

Water flow to Walvis Bay was restricted but not completely stopped on Friday, he said.

“All boreholes are now operational, and NamWater is working to refill the reservoirs and restore storage levels,” he said.

NamWater repeated its call for the public to use water sparingly while the water system recovers.

“Water supply is expected to normalise by Monday,” Ndamanomhata said.
