Volschenk wins gold at Thaba Trails

Qara Volschenk was Namibia’s top performer at the SA XCO XCC Cup 2 at Thaba Trails in Gauteng yesterday. 

She won the gold medal in the sub junior girls category in 13 minutes 9 seconds to finish 41 seconds ahead of Lena Theron of South Africa. 

Micah Chase won a silver medal in the XCC youth men’s category in 10:38, finishing two seconds behind Camryn Chase of SA. 

Roger Suren won the bronze medal in the XCC elite men’s category after finishing third in 19:35.

Luke Moir of SA won gold in 19:23, while Johan van Zyl of SA won silver in 19:30. 

In the XCC sub junior boys category, JP Lambert came fourth in 11:42, while Zachari Davies of SA won gold in 11:31. 

In the XCC junior women’s category, Rosemarie Thiel came fifth in 23:49 while SA’s Nika Nortje won gold in 22:30.
