Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) president McHenry Venaani has been re-elected as the party’s president.
Venaani revealed on his WhatsApp status on Saturday night that he was given another five-year mandate during the PDM’s electoral congress.
“I am humbled to have been elected unopposed as the party president and the presidential candidate of our movement,” he said.
Meanwhile, member of parliament Jennifer van den Heever has been elected as the party’s vice president.
Van den Heever, who contested against Elma Dienda, secured 193 votes to 66.
The congress, which is being held in the Zambezi region, concludes on Sunday.
Venaani was first elected as party president in 2014 and re-elected in 2019.
During his opening remarks, Venaani said this would be his last elective congress before he hands over the reins to the next leader.
