TWO men have been arrested for allegedly defrauding a woman in a cash loan scam in Windhoek today.
Police spokesperson Edwin Kanguatjivi confirmed to this afternoon that an amount of about N$69 000 was found on the suspects in the city centre today.
The two have been charged with fraud.
He said the suspects had allegedly tricked the woman into taking out a loan of N$70 000 from a cash loan service. The money dubiously ended up with the suspects after the loan was approved.
Kanguatjivi, however, could not offer more details into how they managed to allegedly talk the woman into taking out the loan.
He said the woman, after realising the scam, went to report the incident at the Otjomuise Police Station and the suspects were arrested.
Kanguatjivi urged the public to be vigilant and not to trust strangers with information involving money.
“This is just one of the many scams going on. I urge all people to be more cautious,” he said.
The suspects are expected to appear in court either tomorrow or on Friday.
