These days, every teenager wants to be the first to watch the latest movies in their circle of their friends, but the question is: What kind of influence do these movies have on teenagers? Is it a positive or negative influence?
Well, most misleading information comes from today’s movies. As a teenager myself, I agree that today’s movies have a bad influence on teenagers. More than 70% of teenagers watch movies that are above their age restrictions. Most movies contain scenes which teenagers should not be allowed to see and parents are not always around to stop them. The information in the movies can be misleading to teenagers.
Many movies have a major impact on teenagers. Many movies encourage young people to do bad things, for example having sex, stealing and lying. I would say that in most cases, teenage pregnancies are a result of teenagers spending a great deal of their time watching television instead of being with their books. It is also a fact that they can learn how to use drugs and start drinking alcohol by seeing how ‘cool’ it is in movies.
Some movies also encourage teenagers who have been thinking about committing suicide to go think more about it since they believe death is the only way they can solve difficult problems they are facing. We know that most teenagers are easily influenced by everything and everyone surrounding them.
I would like to advise parents to be more careful about the movies and programmes they allow their children to watch. Even movies that we think are educational can be deceiving and misleading without parental advice and supervision. Movie theatres should always demand the IDs of teenagers so they can notified of their age.
To sum up, I would say that movies have a very bad influence on teenagers, which can lead to violence, alcohol and drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and which leads to teenagers embarrassing themselves within their communities because of the bad activities they get involved in.
