Swapo candidate Moses Khumub has been elected as the councillor for the Guinas constituency in the by-election held on Friday.
Khumub defeated his relative Fransiskus Khumub, who was fielded by the Landless People’s Movement (LPM).
According to the election results released by the Electoral Commission of Namibia, Swapo’s Khumub garnered 1 407 votes, while LPM’s candidate received 612.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of former Guinas constituency councillor Elias Martinus late last year.
The Guinas constituency is in the Oshikoto region.
