Seibeb wins Megabuild MTB Race

COSTA Seibeb won the Open Men’s category at the Megabuild Mountain Bike and Wispeco Trail Run which took place at Daan Viljoen on Saturday.

Seibeb completed the 40km event in a time of 1:36:55 to finish 21 seconds ahead of second placed Alex Miller, while Wyne Keister came third, nearly 10 minute behind in 1:46:10.

Jeanne Heunis was a comfortable winner of the 40km Open Women’s category in 2:10:31, with Michelle Doman coming secon in 2:16:06 and Lelani Swart third in 2:24:00.

The event saw a big turnout of more than 250 mountain bike riders who competed in various categories.

Hans du Toit won the Masters category over 40km in 1:46:22, followed by Philip Steyn (1:49:37) and Frikkie van Greunen (1:50:54), while Johanita de Waal won the 40km Masters Women’s category in 2:05:48, followed by Rosi Hennes (2:08:45) and Germien Stals (2:13:11).

Stefan Bohlke won the Men’s Grand Masters category over 40km in 1:55:32, with Niels Serrer coming second more than 12 minutes behind in 2:07:48 and Johann Liebenberg third in 2:10:38, while Berrit Graf won the 40km Women’s Grand Masters category in 3:09:58.

Justin Vosloo was a comfortable winner of the 15km Open Men’s category in 1:08:40, finishing more than six minutes ahead of Hugo Hahn (1:15:19) while Bergran Jensen came third in 1:21:51.

Cindy Rowland won the 15km Open Women’s category in 2:05:15, with Anja Basson coming second in 2:08:49 and Tanja Basson third in 2:16:10.

Eddie Carstens won the 15km Masters Men’s category in 1:19:59, finishing well ahead of second-placed Andre Basson (1:36:36) while Carl Hahn came third in 1:37:54.

Ulande Viljoen won the 15km Masters Women’s category in 1:29:23, with Stephanie Faul coming second in 1:31:34 and Mara van Wyk third in 1:44:05.

Pieter Carstens won the Grand Masters Men’s 15km category in 1:57:50, while Kirsten Schreiber won the 15km Grand Masters Women’s category in 1:45:37, with Carolin Janik finishing a distant second in 2:17:44.

Chenelle Currie won the 10km Open Women’s Trail Run in 1:02:22, followed by Bernice van Staden (1:04:09) and Janita Marais (1:09:48), while Wilke van Greunen won the 10km Open Men’s Trail Run in 44:11, followed by Jaco van den Berg (45:10) and Kennedy Johannes (49:15).

Henriette Crouse won the 10km masters Women’s Trail Run in 51:49, with Liezl Swanepoel coming second in 54:20 and Georgia Kauapirura third in 1:02:06, while Erastus Pinehas won the 10km Masters men’s trail Run in 44:09, beating Michael Nesley (44:10) in a sprint to the line, while Felix Weilenmann came third in 44:59.

Brigitte Bartsch won the 10km Grand Masters Women’s Trail Run in 1:29:39, while Hendrik Fourie won the 10km Grand Masters Men’s Trail Run in 1:08:03, followed by Nico Goosen (1:35:41).
