CARLITO is a young Namibian man who is sentenced to five years imprisonment because of fraud. Nothing can prepare him for his new life in custody.
Naïve, he gets lured into the group of the General, played by Monray Garoeb, a dangerous criminal who rules over his cell.
This is an all-Namibian star-studded production which stars Adriano Visagie, winner of the 2017 Best Male Actor in a Theatre Play award at the Namibia Theatre and Film Awards (NTFA).
It also stars multi-talented Odile Müller (winner of the 2017 NTFA Best Female Actress in a film), Dawie Engelbrecht (winner of the 2014 NTFA Best Male Actor in a film award) and David Ndjavera (winner 2012 NTFA Best Male Actor in a theatre production).
Other noteable actors in the production are Desmond Kamerika, Sakanombo Kasoma, Jeremiah Jeremiah, Dennis !Kharuchab and Bruno Santana Caldeira.
The film is directed by Philippe Talavera who has previously put together plays like ‘Pap and Milk’, ‘Panado Girl’and ‘Now That I Can Talk About It’. Bernd Curschmann is the director of photography while Haiko Boldt (winner of the 2014 NTFA Best Editor award) is the editor.
The official premiere will be in the presence of cast and crew on Wednesday, 11 October at 20h00.
The public is reminded that this film is rated ‘parental guidance 16’ with strong language, nudity and sex. No children under the age of 16 will be allowed.
Tickets are available at the Warehouse Theatre, the Biltong Shop in Maerua Mall and various Airtime City kiosks in Windhoek as well as on the free app PayToday. A welcoming drink is included in the ticket price and guests are expected to dress formally.
