A man (37) died after he was stabbed outside the Mondesa Police Barracks at Swakopmund early on Saturday morning.
Namibian Police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said the incident occurred at around 02h00 in Masilo Street at Mondesa Single Quarters.
Shikwambi said Vatileni Shinomwenyo was found at the entrance of the police barracks lying in a pool of blood with a deep stab wound behind his right thigh.
“Members summoned a Swakopmund Municipality ambulance and the victim was treated at the scene and rushed to Swakopmund State Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor,” Shikwambi said.
The body was taken to the Walvis Bay police mortuary for an autopsy.
Shinomwenyo’s next of kin have been informed, while a suspect has been detained. Police investigations continue.
