The deputy chairperson of the Rehoboth Town Council management committee, Amanda Groenewaldt, says the town has various projects in store for the 2025/26 financial year.
Among them an Agra hub, complete with warehouse, auction pen, truck port, and different shops, as well as a state-of-the-art hospital at Hillside and an Allency solar plant.
“The construction of the new shops will be a first in Namibia, with a lot of job opportunities for our people. I am proud of this project because it will create employment for the people of our town,” Groenewaldt says.
She says the Rehoboth Town Council is keen to make the town a better place.
According to Groenewaldt, the council’s successes thus far have been thanks to an engaged community, good local governance, a sound financial approach, pride in local neighbourhoods, and a progressive vision for the town.
Speaking about last year’s achievements, she says she is proud of accomplishments such as upcoming investments, socio-economic development, important social and cultural exchanges and various capital projects.
“Some of the capital projects we have completed thus far are the second traffic robots on the B1 national road, the new cemetery in Block H, the upgrading of the Henry Bell Road, the rollover project for electricity meters for the entire town, the replacement of 1 500 dysfunctional electricity meters in Block E (Phase 2), the regravelling of several selected roads in Block D and Block A, the upgrading of the cemetery road to bitumen status, the improvement of sport facilities, renovations at Reho Spa after 17 years, the handover of 160 erven to the Saamstaan community at Bahnhof, and the completion of the Alienation Scheme Project,” she says.
Groenewaldt says the council is looking forward to many more developments at the town.
“We are positive that we will achieve all our goals set for the year.”
