Pensioner allegedly defrauded of N$170 000 at Brakwater

A 70-year-old Namibian man was defrauded of N$170 080 on Friday. A suspect impersonating a bank official allegedly obtained his bank PIN under false pretences. This happened at Nubuamis Hills in Brakwater.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 15h25. No arrest has been made, and the stolen money has not been recovered.

According to the latest police crime report, investigations continue.

In a separate incident on the same day at around 19h50 in Eros, a suspect allegedly smashed the left window of a parked vehicle using an unknown object and stole an iPhone 12 Pro Max valued at N$20 700. No recovery or arrest has been made.

In another unrelated incident, a 34-year-old Namibian man was arrested at around 14h30 at the B1 City Complex service station in the capital after police intercepted a parcel containing cannabis, ecstasy tablets and mushrooms (psilocybin/psilocin) valued at N$5 900.

The parcel was discovered when a seven-seater travelling from Swakopmund was stopped and searched at the Okapuka traffic checkpoint.
