Oshana, Omusati in scintillating draw

RHONIE GAROEBOSHANA and Omusati under-20 regional football teams played out a dazzling draw in which six goals were scored.

Oshana started the match with determination and almost took the lead in the ninth minute after Erastus Isak’s shot was deflected for a corner. Nothing came of the resultant corner.

But a minute later, captain Junior Petrus opened the scoring for Oshana to take a 1-0 lead.

Omusati replied through Jacob Uuso to level the matters in the 14th minute after being set up by Eliakim Makaya.

The goal spurred Omusati on and they threatened to score but the Oshana goalkeeper gathered a low cross from the flank.

Against the run of play, Petrus extended Oshana’s lead to 2-1 in the 25th minute and they scored another goal four minutes later when Petrus turned provider with an assist for Shafixuna Neema.

In the 30th minute Petrus had the chance to score a hat-trick when his brilliant header was spectacularly saved by the Omusati goalkeeper.

In injury time of the first half, Luaman Alfeus’ free-kick from outside the penalty box hit the cross bar only for the rebound to be wasted by Omusati.

The first half ended 3-1 in favour of Oshana.

Immediately after the restart, Petrus blasted a shot over the bar and Oshana were punished in the 47th minute when Matheus Ilunga reduced to the deficit to 3-2.

Sensing that they had a chance, Omusati threw everything forward, but were down by wayward shooting.

On the other end, Petrus missed a glorious chance when faced with the goalkeeper only to see his shot go past the near post.

The two teams resorted to shooting from a distance, and Omusati’s pressure paid off in the 50th minute when a header from Titus Kautsima beat the outstretched Oshana goalkeeper to level matters at 3-3.

Deep into injury time, Petrus’s goal bound header was tipped over for a corner.

Wilbard Mbago of Omusati was chosen as player of the match.
