NAMIBIA crashed to a 10-wicket defeat after a poor batting display in their T20 cricket match against Northerns in Windhoek on Sunday.
Namibia were bundled out for a paltry 60 runs off 16 overs before Northerns rattled off the winning runs in only seven overs to seal an emphatic victory.Namibia’s innings got off to a disastrous start as they lost their first four wickets with only three runs on the board.Ethy Mbhalati removed Craig Williams (1) and Ewald Steenkamp (1) in the second over, while Mario Olivier dismissed Gerrie Snyman (0) and Raymond van Schoor (0) off successive balls in the next over to leave Namibia in deep trouble.They could not recover as the wickets continued to fall. Sarel Burger made 9 and Gerhard Rudolph 7 as Namibia crashed to 38/6. Glenn Foxcroft tried to dig Namibia out of trouble but he received little support as the wickets continued to tumble around him.Foxcroft was the only Namibian batsman to reach double figures as he was eventually out LBW to Northerns’ spin bowler Eden Links.Links cut through Namibia’s lower order to dismiss Namibia for 60 and finish with 4/12 off 3 overs.Northerns’ openers Pieter Malan (46) and Francois Le Clus (14) easily reached the winning target off only 7 overs to win the match by 10 wickets.- namibiapsort.com.na
