New medical centre for Swakop

FIRST lady Monica Geingos officially opened the Khomas Medical Centre at Swakopmund on Friday.

The health facility, situated at Swakopmund’s Mondesa suburb, has doctor consulting rooms, a clinic and sick-rooms, as well as a pharmacy and dentist.

An operating theatre and laboratory will be added in the near future.

Managing partner Dr Christo Burger said the idea to build a centre at Mondesa was born from the wishes of the late former mayor of Swakopmund Germiena Shitaleni in 2015 who wanted people from the poorer suburbs to access quality affordable health services.
