Internal division must not break Swapo – president

Swapo president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says internal division and misinformation risk weakening the ruling party.

Internal debate must not be allowed to “break” the party’s unity, she says.

The president said this at the opening of Swapo’s central committee meeting in Windhoek on Saturday.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said unity remains the party’s greatest asset and must be protected against both internal and external pressures.

“We must guard jealously against tendencies that seek to divide us, whether from within or from external forces,” she said.

MISINFORMATION

Nandi-Ndaitwah said misinformation and disinformation are being used to create confusion and mistrust within the party.

“There are those who present falsehoods as fact to sow confusion, mistrust and disunity among our rank and file,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the party remains focused on implementing its 2025 to 2030 election manifesto, which prioritises youth employment and sustainable development.

Among achievements cited were the National Youth Development Fund and the full subsidy of tertiary registration and tuition fees.

“These are not abstract achievements. They are concrete interventions that are changing the lives of our people,” she said.
