Muyongo still talks secession

EXILED Caprivi rebel leader Mishake Muyongo still harbours hopes of secession.Muyongo, now living in Denmark, issued a New Year’s message on his website in which he criticises the Namibian Government for ignoring the plight of people in the Caprivi Region and expresses the hope of “a better place” for those arrested in connection with the August 1999 attack in Katima Mulilo.

Calling himself the President of the United Democratic Party of the Caprivi Strip, Muyongo claims that the region is a separate state and will be “liberated from slavery”. He claims that the Caprivi treason trial is a “circus show” and that the Namibia Defence Force – which he calls the “occupation forces” – was in the Caprivi Region mainly “to poach elephants and rhinos and kill other animals to eat, and to terrorise the Caprivian Bushmen”.”Turn the Caprivi into the most fertile land due to your sweat, leave no method untested or untried in your quest for freedom. Our freedom train has no passengers but drivers, when one person falls sick, the next person should be able to drive the train until it reaches its destination, the Caprivi Zipfel,” he said on his website.
