Namibia Football Association (NFA) president John Muinjo is expected to table a crucial report at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women Championships Organizing Committee meeting on Thursday this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The CAF Standing Committees are meeting this week in the Ethiopian capital to report and map out the organisation of various CAF competitions and divisions, and on Thursday, Muinjo will deliver a report on the preparedness of Namibia in hosting the ninth edition of the CAF African Women Championships from 11-25 October 2014 in Windhoek.
“It is merely to indicate to them what we have done thus far since the last inspection and final draw events. How are the venues shaping up and many other related matters. This report will be very crucial,” Muinjo said.
Muinjo adds that the committee will then dissect the report and map out a way forward and possibly orders for one more final inspecting.
“Everything has to be done according to the guidelines set out in organizing these kind of CAF tournaments and we also have to indicate how the we as a country, the NFA and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) are handling the Ebola issue, and that is why collective national cooperation has been fundamental to the preparations for these championships. This (report) will be a defining moment but our confidence remains high that we will get the final green light once again,” Muinjo explained.
Namibia opens the championship with a date against Zambia on 11 October at 17h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium while on the same day at 20h00, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire clash at the Independence Stadium, both games in Group A.
Group B will play its first games on 12 October at the same times (17h00 and 20h00), while Namibia’s second game will be on 14 October at 20h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium against Cote d’Ivoire before final group game on 17 October against Nigeria at 17h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
The semifinals are scheduled for 22 October at the Sam Nujoma Stadium and the final for 25 October at the same venue. – nfa.org.na
