To the Miss Namibia 2026 Finalists

Charmaine Tjizumaue

Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’ve earned your place among the Miss Namibia 2026 finalists. That in itself is an incredible achievement. Before the competition reaches its grand finale, take a moment to acknowledge how far you’ve already come.

Fifteen years ago, I stood where you are now.

In 2011, I was 19, fresh out of school, stepping into one of the biggest experiences of my young life. I remember standing backstage with butterflies in my stomach, hearing the crowd before I could see them. The stage lights felt brighter than I had imagined, and my heart raced with every step I took.

I was excited.

I was nervous.

And if I’m being honest, I was terrified.

But I was also growing, even though I didn’t realise it then.

Looking back today, I can confidently say that participating in Miss Namibia was never just about competing for a crown. It was about discovering parts of myself I didn’t know existed. It challenged me to speak with confidence, carry myself with grace under pressure and believe in my own abilities. Those lessons have stayed with me far longer than the pageant itself.

One thing I admire about today’s Miss Namibia is how much it has evolved. The competition now places greater emphasis on leadership, purpose, advocacy and authenticity. It is creating space for young women to use their voices, tell their stories and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

As you prepare for the weeks ahead, my advice is simple.

Enjoy the experience.

Don’t spend every day worrying about scores, predictions or what people are saying on social media. Don’t become so focused on the destination that you forget to enjoy the journey.

Be fully present.

Take in every rehearsal, every photo shoot, every appearance and every conversation. Laugh backstage. Learn from your mentors. Ask questions. Support one another.

The women standing beside you are your competitors, yes, but they are also remarkable young women with stories, dreams and ambitions of their own. Some of them may become lifelong friends, future colleagues or valuable connections in ways you cannot yet imagine.

Allow yourself to grow through every challenge.

There will be moments when you doubt yourself. Moments when you’re exhausted or feel the weight of expectations. That’s normal. Growth often feels uncomfortable before it feels rewarding.

Remember that you were selected as a finalist because someone saw something special in you. Trust that.

And if, on finals night, you aren’t crowned Miss Namibia 2026, please don’t let that define your experience.

Only one woman will wear the crown.

But every finalist who had the courage to apply, to show up and to stand confidently on that stage has already achieved something remarkable. You chose courage over comfort. You challenged yourself. You grew.

That is something to be proud of.

The crown is an honour, but it is not the only measure of success. The confidence you build, the friendships you form, the lessons you learn and the woman you become are victories no one can take away from you.

Walk onto that stage with confidence. Be authentic. Cheer for one another. Give the judges the very best version of yourself and leave knowing you embraced every opportunity this journey offered.

Years from now, you may not remember every score or every outfit, but you will remember how this experience made you feel and, more importantly, how it helped shape the woman you became.

I wish each of you all the very best for the journey ahead. Enjoy every moment.
