Four raped countrywide over the weekend, including minors

The police are investigating four cases in which two women and two minors were allegedly raped over the weekend.

In the first incident, two minors, aged eight and 11, were allegedly raped by an unknown man in the Hardap region over the weekend.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, in a police report released on Sunday, says the incidents allegedly occurred at an unknown time and date and that the suspect has not yet been identified.

“Medical examinations were conducted on the victims and police investigations continue,” she says.

In another incident, a woman (23) was allegedly raped by three men at Outjo.

The incident allegedly occurred at midnight on Saturday while the woman was walking home.

Shikwambi says the victim was taken to the hospital for a medical examination. She says the suspects are unknown and have not yet been arrested.

At Okahandja, a man of unknown age allegedly raped a woman (21) at about 23h45 on Friday.

Shikwambi says the victim was taken to Okahandja State Hospital for rape kit collection following the rape and was given treatment.

She says the suspect is still at large and police investigations continue.

In a separate incident, the police found a body of an unidentified man near Niels Engineering at Otjiwarongo on Friday morning.

The body was discovered at about 06h25, Shikwambi says.

“The deceased was wearing a red T-shirt, black jeans, with no shoes,” she says.

His body was taken to the mortuary by Forensic Pathology Services for an autopsy.

Shikwambi says police investigations continue.
