A former Ministry of Works and Transport inspector at Swakopmund has been arrested for allegedly awarding his own company a government tender.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) interim spokesperson Marina Matundu in a statement confirmed the arrest of Anthony Dreyer on Friday.
“We wish to inform the public that a former official from the Ministry of Works and Transport at Swakopmund in the Erongo region has been arrested and charged following an investigation into alleged corrupt practices,” she says.
The alleged irregular tender involved the servicing and repair of firefighting equipment at the then Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources at Swakopmund at a cost of N$84 132 in 2020.
Matundu in the statement says investigations have revealed that Dreyer allegedly allocated work to a company called Camel Thorn Investment CC, which he fully owns, without following the prescribed procurement procedures.
Dreyer appeared before the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Friday and was granted bail in an amount of N$20 000.
His case was postponed to 25 February 2026 for plea and trial.
Matundu says Dreyer has been formally charged with violating the Anti-Corruption Act for corruptly using his office or position for personal gain.
He is also charged with contravening the Procurement Act and the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
“Corruption undermines public trust, good governance, and effective service delivery,” Matundu says.
