/Khai-/Khaua Traditional Authority offers agricultural land

The /Khai-/Khaua Traditional Authority has made land near Berseba available for agricultural development to boost the government’s food security and rural development agenda.

Speaking at the /Khai-/Khaua Traditional Authority Cultural Festival in Mariental on Saturday, prime minister Elijah Ngurare said the government is busy assessing land near Snyfontein and Kameelrivier for agricultural projects, with water from the Neckartal Dam expected to support farming in the Hardap and ||Kharas regions.

He encouraged other traditional authorities to release land for productive use, saying “such partnerships can create jobs, strengthen rural economies and improve food security”.

Ngurare cited the Otjombinde Agricultural Project in the Omaheke region as an example of how community-led farming initiatives can drive rural development while creating employment opportunities for young people.
