Ernie Els designs golf course in Namibia

LEGENDARY South African professional golfer Ernie Els, is set to soon design a course at the Desert Star Motion Picture Resort on the Orange River.

According to a statement by the resort, representatives of the renowned South African golf course designing firm, Ernie Else Design, recently conducted a site inspection of the resort and subsequently signed the agreement to construct the 18 hole golf course. ‘Desert Star has confirmed that Ernie Els Design will design the golf course of The Stars at Desert Star Motion Picture Resort,’ said the statement. The new course is expected to ‘be a central attraction’ and ‘be one of the leading golf courses in the world. ‘We are privileged to have Ernie and his team join Desert Star as the designers of the Golf Course of the Stars,’ said the resort’s CEO Rudolf Markgraaff, who added that Els’s recent addition to the World Golf Hall of Fame and his team ‘will ensure that our course will be one of the best in the world.’The Big Easy, as the former World No. 1 is affectionately known by fans and the media, will officially make the announcement on October 11. Els is also expected to show his support for The Night of The Stars charity event held in honour of two unnamed charities in Namibia. Along with Els, a number of international celebrities are expected to grace the new course in the Desert Star Annual Golf Challenge. Every hole will represent a charity with every ball sunk raising funds for the attached charity.
