Ongwediva is facing an emergency water supply interruption following a major pipe burst at Extension 12 on Friday.
In a statement, the Ongwediva Town Council has informed residents that the pipe burst occurred at the Ongwediva Reservoir near the Emvula Complex, affecting water supply across the town.
The town’s head of corporate communications, Ottilie Shingenge, says water supply was expected to be restored at 18h00 before being shut down again at 22h00.
She says the Namibia Water Corporation and the council’s technical team are on site working to repair the pipe and restore normal water supply.
“Water will be restored again on Saturday, 3 January, at 05h00. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” she says, and thanks the residents for their understanding.
