The National Disability Council of Namibia, in collaboration with the Namibian College of Open Learning, has opened a funding window for pupils with disabilities.
In a public notice issued this week, the council says the funding programme is aimed at supporting pupils with disabilities who are enrolled at or intend to enrol at the college.
Applications opened on 29 December and will close on 30 January.
The council says the programme is designed to address barriers faced by pupils with disabilities in accessing and completing their secondary education.
It supports studies under both the old and new curricula, allowing applicants to improve results or complete outstanding subjects at Grade 11 or Grade 12 level.
The council says the pre-selection process will be competitive.
“Pre-selection is competitive and conducted in line with Namcol’s key selection criteria, as well as the rules, procedures and statutory documents of the council,” the notice reads.
The council says the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusive education and improve access to learning opportunities for people with disabilities.
