Bester thrills with goal

RUDOLF Bester is on cloud nine after scoring a stunning injury-time goal to help Orlando Pirates beat Jomo Cosmos 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium on Monday night.
Bester came on as a substitute and became a hero when he scored with a long-range shot in the 92nd minute to send the Buccaneers to the top of the log.

‘It’s feels great to score such a wonderful goal after so much time on the sidelines and not getting a chance to score those vital goals,’ Bester tells KickOff.com.’It was fantastic to score such a goal and hopefully it will continue to happen for Orlando Pirates.’Bester has not made much of an impact since joining Pirates from Maritzburg United. However, the arrival of Augusto Palacios as caretaker coach seems to have revived the 29-year-old and he has slowly started to get more game-time.’I have never been worried about my future at Pirates despite the lack of game-time. You must understand that Pirates is a big team with great players and it’s not easy to get a chance to play.’I am happy now that I am starting to get game time and am ready to continue working hard.’RISSERS ON TARGETLast week Oliver Risser made amends for his Wembley own goal misery by sealing the points as npower League Two leaders Swindon Town got back to winning ways and opened a five-point gap over Torquay with a 2-0 victory at Barnet. It was the defensive midfielder’s third goal in 29 matches this season. On Friday, his brother Wilko Risser stepped off the bench to score Aldershot Town’s solitary strike in a 2-1 loss to Port Vale. With that goal, the Namibian international striker – who has been used sparingly since joining the fourth division outfit in February – stepped up his claim for a regular starting berth. -kickoff.com/football.co.uk
