The Bank of Namibia has appointed Nicholas Mukasa as the second deputy governor of the bank with effect from the start of May.
Prior to his appointment Mukasa was the director of financial markets at the central bank.
He was responsible for managing the country’s foreign exchange reserves, implementing monetary policy decisions and overseeing the government’s domestic debt issuance.
Mukasa also served on the bank’s management committee and monetary policy committee.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Namibia and is a chartered financial analyst.
The governor of the bank, Ebson Uanguta, said
Mukasa’s appointment could not be
more timely as the bank continues to build a knowledge-based institution.
“His extensive expertise in financial markets and policy implementation will be crucial in guiding the bank through this pivotal phase,” said Uanguta.
