Arie Schans, who acted as the Brave Warriors caretaker coach in Ghana, has been officially appointed as their new head coach.
The PRO of the NFA Beau Kauta said yesterday that Schans had officially been appointed and the Namibia Football Association was now awaiting his arrival in Namibia from The Netherlands so that he could sign his contract and take up his position. “We have appointed Arie Schans as the head coach and he must just come to Namibia to sign his contract. We hope he will arrive in the next two weeks,” Kauta said.He added that the NFA would establish a coaching forum with Schans presiding as the head coach.”While Schans will coach the national team, he will also be an instructor of local coaches in order to impart his knowledge to Namibians,” he said.”Schans has agreed to take up the position and we hope that everything will be sorted out shortly.”Kauta said the NFA was negotiating with the Namibia Football Consortium to raise funds for Schans’ salary, but added that the Namibian government had guaranteed its support too.Kauta said that Schans was keen to take on the job and eager to arrange some friendly matches for the Brave Warriors before they start their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign at the end of May.namibiasport”We have appointed Arie Schans as the head coach and he must just come to Namibia to sign his contract. We hope he will arrive in the next two weeks,” Kauta said.He added that the NFA would establish a coaching forum with Schans presiding as the head coach.”While Schans will coach the national team, he will also be an instructor of local coaches in order to impart his knowledge to Namibians,” he said.”Schans has agreed to take up the position and we hope that everything will be sorted out shortly.”Kauta said the NFA was negotiating with the Namibia Football Consortium to raise funds for Schans’ salary, but added that the Namibian government had guaranteed its support too.Kauta said that Schans was keen to take on the job and eager to arrange some friendly matches for the Brave Warriors before they start their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign at the end of May.namibiasport
