Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman – these are the most prominent names that arise if you think of the DC Universe.
In November 2010, the world was introduced to The Team when ‘;Young Justice’; season one aired and comic fans were introduced to an array of interesting personalities, storylines, plots and character development. But they’;re not sidekicks, so don’;t call them them that.
‘;Young Justice’; and ‘;Young Justice: Invasion’; ran from 2010 until 2013, when the show was cancelled. The show featured the likes of Dick Grayson/Robin, Batman’;s protégé and tech genius who during the five-year hiatus between season one and two set aside his cape to become Nightwing.
Aquaman’;s mentee Kaldur’;ahm, who uses the identity of Aqualad, for the most part serves as the leader of The Team on various missions. Kid Flash, also known as Wally West, runs almost as fast the Flash. A Kryptonian-human hybrid who is a genomorph clone of Superman and brainchild of Lex Luther, has no bond with the Superman and goes through the series with anger issues, however, takes up the pseudonym Conner Kent.
Kent’;s love interest comes in the shape of M’;gann M’;orzz or Megan Morse, also known as Miss Martian, the niece of Martian Manhunter.
Like her uncle, she has telekinetic and telepathic abilities as well as flight, camouflage and shape-shifting.
Artemis is the protege of Green Arrow and she initially pretends to be his niece. She is a highly athletic expert archer and takes on the identity of Tigress during season two.
‘;Young Justice: Outsiders’;, the third season of the American animated superhero series, is also developed by Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman.
This season will focus on The Team battling metahuman trafficking and will also feature the superhero team The Outsiders.
The Outsiders include former Team members such as Artemis, Superboy and Nightwing, while the original squad retains Aqualad with the assistance of Blue Beetle, Oracle and Bart Allen as the new Kid Flash.
The popular show was brought back for a third season due to its high Netflix viewings and audible protests from fans after its cancellation in 2013. ‘;Young Justice: Outsiders’; is set to start airing during 2019 on DC Universe, DC Comics’; new digital media service.
