Two suspected suicides reported over weekend

The Namibian Police have reported two separate suspected suicide cases involving two young women over the weekend.

This was announced in the weekend crime report by national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi on Sunday.

According to Shikwambi, Jolene Orr (29) took her own life at about 06h00 at Aussenkehr’s Block 5 on Friday.

“She was declared dead by a nurse,” Shikwambi says.

The police say the deceased’s next of kin have been informed, while her body was transported to Noordoewer Police Mortuary pending an autopsy.

In a separate incident at Utokota village in the Sambyu area of the Kavango East region, Muhoko Kunyanda (19) took her own life at about 08h35 on Friday.

According to Shikwambi, neighbours discovered Kunyanda’s body and no foul play was detected at the scene.

Her body was transported to the Rundu state mortuary for a postmortem and further investigations.

Police investigations into both incidents are continuing.
