Two inmates escape from Swakop holding cells

Two male inmates escaped from the police holding cells at Swakopmund on Friday between 17h00 and 21h30.

Namibian Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi said the two inmates have been identified as rape suspect Ralph Uiseb (20) and theft suspect Micheal Goeieman (31).

“It’s alleged that the suspects removed the window of the kitchen in the cells’ corridor in an unknown manner and escaped through the window at the gate to the back yard, jumped over the wall and disappeared,” Shikwambi said.

Police searches for the escaped inmates are underway.

“The public are hereby requested to furnish any information that may lead to the whereabouts and arrest of the suspects. The public is also warned not to arrest (the escapees) but to report to any nearest police station,” Shikwambi said.
