MINISTER of Local Government Jerry Ekandjo officially inaugurated the newly constructed Tses Village Council offices at the southern settlement on Friday.

Ekandjo called on the local community to guard against vandalism. ‘I wish to emphasise that the facilities erected in Tses are valuable assets that must be treated tenderly and protected at all cost,’ Ekandjo said. Karas Governor Dawid Boois said concerted effort was needed to overcome challenges such HIV/AIDS, extreme poverty and alcohol and drug abuse, which hampers the region’s socio-economic development. ‘We have to become entrepreneurs and masters of our own destiny,’ Boois said. Boois also said consultants were hard at work completing the first phase of the Neckertal Dam near Keetmanshoop.
