On Wednesday, FNB Namibia congratulated Eleven Arrows on winning this season’s Leo NFA Cup.
The FNB-sponsored Arrows beat Civics 2-0 in the final, with goals from Dumisa Jantze and Freedom Puriza, at the Kuisebmond stadium in Walvis Bay last Saturday.’As the official soccer bank in Namibia it is with great pleasure that we congratulate the winners and wish them all the best for the new season,’ said Dixon Norval, Head: Strategic Marketing & Communications at FNB.’We love soccer and so does the Namibian nation. It is thus very encouraging to see how the support by FNB is assisting the development of the game and the renewed enthusiasm with which all soccer clubs and teams take up the challenges. Keep going and keep enjoying the sport of soccer,’ Norval added.Arrows technical manager Frans Samaria thanked FNB Namibia for their support. He said: ‘The financial backing of FNB Namibia throughout the season was one of the motivational factors for the fine performance of our players.’Arrows reached their second final in the last three years and this time around, under the tutoring of former Namibia midfielder Johannes Congo Hindjou, secured their first NFA Cup victory since Independence. Arrows received N$600 000 from Leo for their victory while Civics received N$250 000 as runners up.Midfielder Heinrich Isaacs of Civics won the Player of the Competition award, despite missing the final due to suspension, while Arrows midfielder Veno Namolo won the Goal Scorer of the Competition award with eight goals, each receiving a cheque of N$25 000. It was the 2010/2011 season finale, with local football due to take a three months break before the 2011/2012 season kicks off in September. The next season marks the final year of the current five-year FNB sponsorship cycle of six NPL clubs.
