Specials galore await customers at the reopening of the Woermann Brock supermarket at Ombili this morning.
The supermarket, which was ravaged by a fire that reduced it to nothing but ashes on 29 October last year, has been rebuilt, upgraded, and is officially reopening its doors today.
“We’re so grateful for the incredible support of the surrounding communities, the fire department and the City of Windhoek. Our new store is more than just a building; it stands as a testament of our commitment to providing our valued customers with variety and convenience at the best prices,” general manager Braam van Niekerk says.
The new store now features a new fresh fruit and vegetable department and a wide range of meats from its ‘Divine Deli’.
“We can’t wait to welcome our customers back and share this new beginning!” he says.
Store manager Abner Ambili says: “We are excited because our customers are happy to be back. Our faithful customers were suffering because other supermarkets are far,” he says, adding that since the shop reopened a few weeks ago, its customers have been coming because of the good prices it offers.
He yesterday said a lot of items will be on special and urged people to come early as “the early bird catches the fattest worm”.
“We are still to get the special prices ready for the official opening tomorrow,” he said.
Ambili said after the fire, no staff member lost their job, as they were seconded to other branches in Windhoek during the supermarket’s reconstruction.
A customer, Mavis Haikali, says she is happy with the reopening of the shop because it’s near her home and the prices are competitive.
“I can even send children to buy a few things in case of emergency,” she says.
