Yango trains 50 drivers on safety for women commuters

Fifty Yango e-hailing drivers on Friday received training aimed at improving safety and travel experience for women commuters in Namibia.

The commuter safety and customer service training hosted by Yango Namibia and the Automobile Association of Namibia (AA Namibia) in Windhoek aims to strengthen professional service standards and promote safer, more respectful journeys for women commuters across the country.

The certified programme equips drivers with skills in gender-sensitive communication, conflict management and customer care, while also promoting safe driving practices.

Public relations company Tulip Media on Friday said on behalf of Yango that the training is not a response to harassment incidents, but part of Yango’s commitment to enhance the quality of service offered by e-hailing drivers across the country.

“The certified programme seeks to strengthen professional service standards and ensure women commuters are treated with dignity, respect and consideration during their journeys,” the company said.

Upon completion, drivers received certificates from AA Namibia and signed a driver pledge committing themselves to maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism and respect on all Yango trips.

The programme forms part of a partnership between Yango Namibia and AA Namibia to enhance the quality of service offered by e-hailing drivers across the country.
