* SOMEONE is at fault here – either those who eat dogs or those who show pictures of dead dogs in newspapers. Now my blame goes to the newspapers, because they bring the pictures to me in a very disturbing way. Would you please stop showing those pictures? Clearly they are out of control. Whoever is doing it is wrong. I am disgusted when I see those pictures. Thank you.

* WE need a serious transformation in our political system, where the constitutional human rights of others are respected and protected! Swapo should really call their supporters and members to order and inform them that they have both rights and obligations to respect the rights of others. This won’t be achieved in one week or one month, but mark my words, it is possible. All political parties in Namibia should realise that they have an absolute obligation to inform their members of their constitutional rights and obligations. – Jaco
Food For Thought
* OUR service industry is in such a sad state that one doesn’t know where to start complaining. From the shop attendants, waiters, banking personnel or anything else. I spent four days shopping for various things in Windhoek and not at a single place was I satisfied with the service. Employees need training!
Politics
* ALL political parties are advised to set up legal departments to approve all their documents like petitions, press releases and demonstrations to be conducted in their names, in order to avoid gross political mistakes, intolerance, faction fighting, diplomatic embarrassment, wrong decisions and violations of the Constitution of Namibia and other laws applicable to our beloved country.
* THE Government of Namibia is representative of all Namibians and not only for Swapo supporters. Fellow citizens know the facts!
* SHAME on those who do not want people to wear Swapo colours during Independence celebrations. It’s not a secret that this country was liberated by Swapo.
* CALLING for the dismissal of GRN employees just because they are not Swapo supporters is counter-productive, undermining and short-sighted.
* MR (Elijah) Ngurare you are too old be part of the Swapo Youth League. Please leave us, the youth, to lead. – Swapo Youth League member
Bloody Shootout
* WHY were the recent armed robbers not clearly shown on the TV news for the public to identify them? What if they escape from custody? – David, Ondangwa
* THE Namibian people must stop appreciating the loss of life of human beings through a shootout by Police, because our Constitution doesn’t give the right to kill. The Police can use this kind of opportunity to kill people and plan it to be a crime. That Police unit which was involved in the shootout must go under investigation. – Francis
Bouquets And Brickbats
* HATS off to (Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister) Morgan Tsvangirai, Ian Khama the President of Botswana and the late President of Zambia, Levy Mwanawasa. You are the true sons of Africa. The sun is now rising in Zimbabwe. I hope Zimbabwe will shine again. I salute you guys. God shall bless you. Thanks for calling a spade a spade. – Washington DC from Otavi
* BOB Kandetu’s Tuesday articles are badly written, his topics not contemporary, they lack a golden thread, i.e. a theme, and are just plain boring. Someone has to tell him so he can improve, maybe take a writing class. – AK
* DIRECTORS, cast and crew of ‘The Ties That Bind’ show: Well done, it keeps getting better. Lighting much better on April 6 than on the previous shows. Congrats and I look forward to next Monday. Well done.
* THANK you, thank you for bringing us The Namibian Newspaper Cup yet again.
Flood Fears
* POOR mitigation of the floods in the North could be reminiscent of what fuelled the 1930s famine and the Rinderpest outbreak. Floods of the 1920s devastated crops, livestock and villages. It brought about the biggest food-for-work programme to date to construct dams by hands. But then the floods subsided indefinitely, rendering tens of earth dams constructed unnecessary. What followed are famine and plague that claimed thousands of human lives and wiped out livestock. Many turned to eating insects and rodents. Let’s hope this history will not be repeated. – Ondjala yOkapuka
* NAMIBIANS, if we fail to build dams to store floodwater this year, take my words floods will be worse next year. Let us act now GRN!
Service Please
* SHOULD we start travelling without our clothes, cosmetics or what? Please Nabta consider that we are human beings and not animals. Why do we need to pay an extra N$30 just for one bag when travelling from Windhoek to Rundu? – Maggy, Rundu
Time To Talk
* WHAT is the GRN really benefiting from the time change? We are in Africa and not in Europe. We are tired of this and need feedback now!
* TIME change, what significant improvement in terms of business, crime prevention, pass rate at schools has it brought about? Namibian lawmakers, please see the negatives of this time change and reconsider your decision.
The Long Wait
* I FULLY agree with the 10 years wait for citizenship. That does not mean Namibian women can’t marry foreigners. Why do you rush for citizenship if you are still in Namibia? If you truly love someone, then you can wait unless you are only interested in citizenship. Well done Namibian government. – Proudly Namibian
Health Matters
* WHEN are the TB DOT promoters going to start working? Those people were helping us a lot with keeping our families on treatment till they finish. But now that they are not present at their different points, we are really suffering with our families who are infected. Please those guys should start with their job soon or else people will not complete their treatment as they used to.
General
* WHY is the world mum about that space object that is about to hit the Earth with a very high propensity to end the current system of life on this planet? It is busy coming and no one can escape its adverse effects. Some say it will be diverted when the Earth changes in its orbit but this is unlikely. – Perhaps you could provide us with more information on this? We would appreciate it. Thanks. – News Editor
Education
* THE OVC of Namibia suffer the most after Grade 12. Most of them are working in Chinese shops or in shebeens if at all employed. It is a pity learning that some of these less fortunate children obtained good points and some were admitted at Unam and other institutions of higher learning, then finances became a question mark. It is against this background I would call on the Government, NGOs and private sector to join hands to assist in this state of affairs. A fund could be established where registered OVC can benefit, during their tertiary studies. Once all OVC in the senior secondary phase are registered, then it’s easy for planning. They deserve reaching the top despite their financial limitations or inabilities. Let’s get involved!
* WE teachers at Olukula Primary School in Okongo circuit Ohangwena Region are suffering. No water, no electricity, no teachers’ house, no access to transport and many more. We are just sleeping in huts, with many snakes. We need a bus allowance or conditions to be improved as soon as possible.
* I FULLY support Mr Ben Shigwedha’s ideas. It is true that our education system fails us. However, the system is not a problem but the way the education system is implemented is problematic. NIED and the Government should do something. – Shikangala, Ongwediva College of Education
In And From The Regions
* UNITED Africa paymaster office at Keetmanshoop what is going on? The office is only open for two days in the week, why? We are pensioners and need your assistance every day. Some of us stay
outside of town and when we came in, always found the office doors closed which is frustrating. We are struggling to obtain pension cards, always the excuse is the machine is out of order and there is even no machine at the Keetmanshoop office! Where should we go for assistance?
* TO the council of Okalongo. How long it will take you to change Okalongo into a vibrant town? How long it will take you to provide electricity to the school Epoko?
* THE Crayfish Festival Committee members, why did you not invite business people? We need to develop the Bucht!
* DEAR Editor! At the Otjozondjupa Regional Office I saw cleaners buffing the floor to shine using a piece of cloth with their feet! Every time I go there I see the floors shining like glass. Mrs Director please help our people get proper machines for that purpose. – Concerned teacher
* IN Rundu the misuse of Government vehicles is the order of the day. The culprits are mostly officials in the Ministry of Education.
* MAY the Minister of Works or Dr Sam Nujoma tell the nation what happened to the construction of the railway line from Tsumeb to Oshikango. It’s almost two years but no word about it. No movement shows that there’s big construction going on. No volunteers and trees all over the site.
* SWART Baster, please come to Rehoboth. We want to see you live brother.
* OSHIKUKU Village Council wake up and do your job. We need development in our town and villages. – Iiyela Abiatar
* POLITICIANS in Eenhana need to distinguish between employees and political appointees. Political appointees are favoured while employees are hired in terms of physical power, health, experience, knowledge, skills, level of education, intellect and understanding. A political party is not a criteria neither a requirement. Please leave teachers in peace. – Onehova
* WE need people with business acumen as councillors in the Local Authority Council of Keetmanshoop as well as the Karas Regional Council. We do not hear of any strategic plan for the World Cup 2010 in terms of economic activities for example tourism or the development of the local businesses. By now they could have had a jointly managed World Cup Committee with experts to identify opportunities for economic gain.
And Justice for All
* MADAM Editor, I want an answer on this: If you are not allowed by law to identify suspects before they appear in court why did you show the face of the suspected robber on a stretcher looking at his cellphone? Or was he already in court? Please we want to see the face of the man stealing petrol from GRN car.
Sporting
* CAN someone please tell me where loud music fits in at athletic events? – AT
Service Please
* STANDARD Bank, we are tired of your conservative ways of doing things. If you don’t introduce cellphone banking soon, we swear, we will move our accounts to other banks’ facilities. Seriously do so before you lose customers.
