Shitembi move to Amazulu confirmed

AmaZulu have confirmed the signature of Petrus Shitembi, the Namibian international midfielder who was released from his contract by the University of Pretoria earlier this season.

The 21-year-old has been training at the club since he left AmaTuks in October when the club and player agreed to terminate his three-year deal because of a lack of first-team football.

AmaZulu signed a pre-contract with Shitembi in January but their hopes of fielding him were thwarted by the fact they had filled their quota of foreign players.

The Durban club also did not find a loan move for Shitembi, who began his career at Rundu Chiefs in the Namibian Premier League, for the second half of the season.

AmaZulu now have a sizeable Namibian contingent with Willem Mwedihanga, Sadney UriKhob, Pinaes Jacob and Larry Horaeb on their books.

But UriKhob and Jacob saw little game time in the just completed Absa Premiership season and might be shipped out to make space for more foreigners, club officials suggested.

Horaeb broke his ankle in training earlier in the year. – supersport.com
