PETRUS Shitembi is searching for a new club after his contract with South African Premiership side University of Pretoria was terminated.
A close associate of the player confirmed to The Namibian Sport that Shitembi and the club recently agreed to end his three-year contract because of his lack of first team football.
The attacking midfielder struggled to break into the team since signing for the Pretoria side from Namibia Premier League club Rundu Chiefs during the January transfer window.
Shitembi was allegedly promised to be allowed more game time by coach Steve Barker this season, however this has failed to materialise leaving the player seeking greener pastures.
“He was getting frustrated because he was not playing. He needs to play that's why he has to move to another club,” the source said.
Arguably the country's most promising talent at the moment, Shitembi is not short on suitors.
“There are around six options for him in South Africa right now. The boy has quality and he has a lot to offer. He is just looking to see what will be the best option for him,” added the source.
Meanwhile, compatriot Pineas Jacob continues to kick his heels on the sidelines in Durban as he awaits a response on his application for permanent residence. The club has exceeded their foreign players quota of five which has forced Jacob to apply for South African citizenship in order to stay at the club. The forward signed for AmaZulu shortly before the start of the season together with compatriots Sadney Urikhob and Larry Horaeb.
