Otto returns home

THE mortal remains of Namibia’s top Government veterinarian, Dr Otto Huebschle (62), who died on Thursday in a hospital in Paris, France, will arrive back in Namibia this morning.

His widow, Michaela Huebschle, who has been in Paris for the past seven weeks to be with her gravely ill husband, will accompany the coffin. A memorial service will be held at the Christuskirche in Windhoek at 15h00 on Friday.Huebschle collapsed at an international conference for veterinarians in Paris at the end of May and was rushed to hospital.Doctors diagnosed severe heart failure and Huebschle was put on an emergency list for a heart transplant.But a suitable donor heart was not found and Huebschle passed away after seven weeks in hospital.His son Tim, who returned to Namibia ahead of his mother Michaela, said the Huebschle family will have an open house this week.”This will be from Monday (today) to Thursday between 17h00 and 21h00 at the family home in 9 Stein Street, Klein Windhoek, for those who wish to convey their condolences,” Tim Huebschle told The Namibian.A memorial service will be held at the Christuskirche in Windhoek at 15h00 on Friday.Huebschle collapsed at an international conference for veterinarians in Paris at the end of May and was rushed to hospital.Doctors diagnosed severe heart failure and Huebschle was put on an emergency list for a heart transplant.But a suitable donor heart was not found and Huebschle passed away after seven weeks in hospital.His son Tim, who returned to Namibia ahead of his mother Michaela, said the Huebschle family will have an open house this week.”This will be from Monday (today) to Thursday between 17h00 and 21h00 at the family home in 9 Stein Street, Klein Windhoek, for those who wish to convey their condolences,” Tim Huebschle told The Namibian.
