Academic staff at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) will receive a 5% salary increase after the university and the Teachers’ Union of Namibia (TUN) reached an agreement.
The agreement follows salary and wage negotiations between Nust and TUN for the 2026/27 financial year.
The increase is effective from 1 January 2026 and will apply to permanently employed academic staff who fall under the bargaining unit.
Academic staff on full-time contracts of one year or longer will also qualify, provided they are still employed by Nust when the increase is implemented. Nust will implement the increase with the October payroll.
The qualifying staff will receive the salary adjustment dating back to January.
The two parties agree that the 5% increase concludes salary and wage negotiations for the 2026/27 financial year.
Nust vice chancellor Frednard Gideon and TUN secretary general Mahongora Kavihuha signed the agreement in Windhoek on Tuesday.
