A newborn baby boy was allegedly found in a corridor near a church toilet at Omungwelume in the Ohangwena region on Tuesday at around 18h30.
This was confirmed by regional police deputy commissioner Theofelus Willem.
He says the baby is alive and healthy.
“The baby is nearly two weeks old and weighs 3.6 kilograms. One of the church congregants who was using the toilet discovered the baby, wrapped in a cloth,” he says.
Willem is calling on the community to provide information on the whereabouts of the mother.
He adds that the baby was rushed to Omungwelume Clinic and later transported to Engela State Hospital.
