Need More In Order To Vote

Need More In Order To Vote

WHERE is politics of this country headed? Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the politicians are busy with petty fights amongst themselves, instead of dealing with social issues in this country?

The elections are around the corner, and my vote will probably be random if I vote at all! None of our political leaders speak to me as a member of the post-Independence generation. The message is all the same, ‘we have fought for this country, have gratitude’ .Yes blood was shed for Namibia to gain independence, and for that we are grateful, we even sing about it in the National Anthem for goodness sake. But when do we move forward? It is almost 20 years, surely Namibia has enough of the post-Independence period that a nation is expected to go through after a war. Our leaders have stagnated. If singing the ‘we fought for this country’ song hoping to send me on a guilt trip is what politicians think they need to get me to vote, forget it. Politicians, speak to us young people, tell us why any of you deserve our votes. Apart from you being ‘war heroes’, what else do you have to offer this nation? It seems that the majority will vote this year because of spite between the political parties. The motive behind casting votes appears to be to get back at one another, the perceived ‘loyal ones’ vs the perceived ‘traitors’! How juvenile is that?Ester Via e-mail
