Following recent floods in Namibia’s northern regions, president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is set to embark on regional visits from 19 April.
She will visit the relocation centres established for flood-affected communities in the Ohangwena, Oshana, and Omusati regions.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Presidency on Friday.
“The visits aim to provide the head of state with first-hand insight into the living conditions of displaced residents,” it reads.
Nandi-Ndaitwah will monitor the delivery of humanitarian aid and evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
She will be briefed by regional and local authorities and will engage with affected families directly.
These interventions, the Presidency says, reinforce the government’s commitment to a people-centred, responsive and
coordinated approach to disaster management.
Nandi-Ndaitwah will commence her visits at Onesi in the Omusati region, then proceed to Oshakati in the Oshana region, concluding in the Ohangwena region.
