The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has reaffirmed its support for the fourth Namibia Oil and Gas Conference during a meeting with the conference organising committee.
The announcement was made by the Economic Association of Namibia (EAN) in a media statement issued on Monday, following a courtesy visit by the Namibia Oil and Gas Conference organising team.
The meeting focused on preparations for the conference, which will be held from 18 to 20 August.
The organising team briefed Namcor managing director Victoria Sibeya on the conference programme and discussions planned around investment, industry collaboration and the future of Namibia’s emerging oil and gas sector.
Sibeya says the conference comes at a critical stage as Namibia moves closer to unlocking the potential of its petroleum industry.
She says the event will provide opportunities to strengthen investment, promote local participation and develop skills while ensuring Namibia’s petroleum resources create value for Namibians.
Sibeya says collaboration between government, industry and investors is be essential for building a sustainable sector.
“No single institution can build this sector alone. It requires collaboration between the government, national institutions, investors, operators, service providers and Namibian businesses to create a sustainable and inclusive industry,” she says.
EAN chairperson Jason Kasuto says collaboration among stakeholders is be key to ensuring the country’s oil and gas resources benefit the broader economy.
“The shared benefits from the oil and gas industry will not happen automatically,” he says.
Kasuto says engagements with strategic partners such as Namcor help align efforts to maximise the long-term benefits of Namibia’s oil and gas industry.
