THE MTC 2007 Sports Awards will take place at the Safari Court & Conference Centre on Friday as scheduled, Rusten ‘Sukhile’ Mogane, Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed to The Namibian Sport yesterday.

The event, which highlights the achievements of local sports stars, top administrators, as well as best sports codes, is set to be a spectacular one with President Hifikepunye Pohamba expected to give the keynote address. The outspoken Minister of Youth, National Service Sport and Culture John Mutorwa, is also expected to grace the occasion with his presence, as it will be his duty to host the Namibian Head of State.The awards will be contested in 14 different categories only after Mogane confirmed that the Sports Star of the Year award will not be presented this year.We we could not establish the reason why this omission from the NSC by the time of going to press.Tickets for individuals will sell at N$190 while a table of 10 people will go for N$1 900 and sports lovers are urged to buy their tickets very early because the places are limited.”This event promises to be the most spectacular of all.There will be first class entertainment this time around and we want to keep the event as Namibian as possible by only staging local music acts.Ó “We have lined up a very exciting entertainment packed this time with Gazza and Stanley topping the bill.There will also be a live broadcast of the awards and we expect 600 people at this year’s event,Ó Mogane stated.The Sports Awards have become a very important event on the local entertainment calender and with the Sanlam Namibia NBC Music Awards just
