The MTC Kasi Vibe Festival will expand beyond its traditional entertainment offering this year with the introduction of competitive sporting events.
This comes as the organisers are seeking to strengthen the festival’s role as a platform for business, culture and community engagement.
The festival will take place from 31 July to 2 August at Brakwater Recreational Park (Paaltjies), about 15km north of Windhoek.
New additions include seven-a-side football, volleyball and pool tournaments, fitness sessions and other interactive sporting activities.
Event organiser Salmi Shigwedha says the festival has evolved beyond a music event.
“The MTC Kasi Vibe Festival is more than a festival. It is a celebration of Namibian entrepreneurship, culture and creativity and community,” she says.
The expanded programme will also feature three entertainment stages with local and international performers, as well as poetry, comedy and talent showcases.
Families will have access to a dedicated Kiddies World, while affordable camping packages have been introduced for those wishing to stay on site throughout the three-day event.
Business remains a central focus, with hundreds of entrepreneurs and exhibitors expected to showcase their products and services while engaging directly with customers.
“Widely recognised as Namibia’s biggest small and medium enterprise festival, MTC Kasi Vibe has become a catalyst for economic empowerment by providing entrepreneurs and local businesses with an opportunity to showcase their products and services, connect with customers and grow their brands.”
Shigwedha says the organisers have deliberately broadened the programme to appeal to a wider audience.
“This year’s festival promises to be the biggest and most diverse edition yet, with a fresh vision that combines business, arts, music and sport into one exciting destination. Rather than offering a single attraction, MTC Kasi Vibe has been designed to provide a complete lifestyle experience where every visitor can find something to enjoy.”
To improve access to the venue, free municipal buses will operate from designated pick-up points across Windhoek for festivalgoers with valid tickets.
“Accessibility has been carefully considered to ensure that distance is not a barrier to participation. Free municipal bus transport will be available from designated pick-up points across Windhoek, making it easier and more convenient for festivalgoers with valid tickets to the event to travel to and from the venue,” Shigwedha says.
Pick-up points will be announced closer to the time.
The organisers says security and emergency services will be deployed throughout the festival, supported by event marshals, designated access points, traffic management and parking facilities.
