Ras Sheehama

RIGHT on cue with the festive season music shows that are popping up, ‘Ras Sheehama in Concert’ will see Sheehama and many other celebrated musicians perform live at the Warehouse Theatre on Friday.

Fans can expect a mix of Afro-pop, Afro-dance, R&B, Afro-reggae, shambo, African dancehall and house – an eclectic mix of Namibian music that will appeal to young and old.

Tequila is one of Namibia’s most popular songstresses. Her music is a mixture of Afro-pop, R&B and house. In 2009, Tequila took the industry by storm in both Namibia and South Africa when she lent her vocals on South African DJ Bojo Mojo’s hit song ‘Tando Lwam’. The album sold more than 50 000 copies between Namibia and South Africa, which won them a platinum award.

Tequila has released four albums and won several awards in her musical career, including Best Female Artist of the Year at the Namibia Annual Music Awards in 2012.

Another artist who will perform is Seppy Slam whose music is a mixture of shambo, highlife and African dancehall. He has so far released one album titled ‘Fantasy Life’.

Also taking to the stage at the show will be Etondo who grew up in Kwanza-Zul. Etondo’s passion lies in live performances and he has performed in South Africa, Zimbabwe, China, Equador and Serbia. In 2013, he won both the Last Band Standing and the NAMA for Best Live Performer. His music has a strong dance flavour based on shambo and other African cultures. Etondo will perform songs from his upcoming album ‘Eteta Wangu’.

Headlining the show will be Sheehama himself who needs no introduction, being one of the most seasoned and vibrant live performers Namibia has produced. He will take the stage for up to two hours, performing a mixture of his old hits like ‘Cassinga’, ‘City Young Girl’, ‘Push and Pull’ and ‘Travelling’, as well as songs from his latest album ‘Step Up’.

Other acts include Hilz and France-based DJ Slow who will entertain the crowd with long-term experience of Small Axe Sound System. DJ Slow has performed in several European countries in the past 15 years.

This show will take place on Friday, 2 December at the Warehouse Theatre. Doors open at 19h30 and the show starts at 20h30. Advance tickets are sold at all EventsToday outlets. Tickets will also be available at the door. Artists will sell their CDs at the venue.
